CCM Releases Three New Ads In Ongoing Effort
Urging State Leaders To Invest In Our Students
The Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) today released three new advertisements in an ongoing effort to get 119,000 at-risk and disconnected young people back on track as part of the Young People First series of proposals.
The newest assets in a campaign that urge state leaders to fund our future include two 15-second ads and one 30-second ad. The campaign will comprise digital ads and broadcast television, including Sunday news talk shows with an aim at reaching Connecticut’s most politically-engaged audience.

Included in two of the ads is New Haven student, John Carlos Serana Musser, who gave compelling testimony to the Education Committee on SB 1511 – An Act Concerning Disconnected Youth. That bill, which has since moved to the Appropriations Committee, would enhance funding for our students through additional weights in the ECS formula as well as an increase in the foundation grant.
The Senate Bill is just one facet of the Young People First plan and report, which studied and labeled the discrepancies in Connecticut’s education funding. CCM and the 119K Commission spent nine months in 2024 collecting input around the state, from experts and the public alike, to draft the plan. Prepared by the Boston Consulting Group from the commission’s extensive testimony, it calls for several aligned actions and increased funding for our youth.
“CCM’s effort to increase funding for our students will be as large as the need these students experience every day,” said Joe DeLong, Executive Director and CEO of CCM. “I, along with so many others, was humbled by conditions these young people experience as well as the clarity with which they called upon the state to invest in their futures.”
