The Town of Westerly is accepting applications for the position of Director of Human Resources. This position is responsible for directing all municipal human resources functions including compensation, employee relations, talent acquisition, benefits, HRIS, labor relations, payroll, risk management and training. Education & Experience back to top

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or closely related field. The candidate will also have five years of professional and increasingly responsible human resources and payroll experience, which must include a minimum of three years of supervisory and management level experience and at least two years overseeing payroll. Individuals with a Master’s Degree and individuals who hold professional human resources or payroll certifications such as SPHR, SHRM-SCP, IPMA-SCP, CPP or other related professional designations will be given preference.

Strong working knowledge of Human Resource practices and principles with significant knowledge of law and regulations affecting employment. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) Must possess leadership and collaborative skills with demonstrated ability to build partnerships with internal and external customer. Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills. Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail. Utmost professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality. Team player who works to build consensus but can lead and be decisive when needed.

The salary range for this position is $90,000 +/- DOQ with a 37.5 hour work week. This position is an exempt position and is not eligible for overtime. Extended hours beyond 37.5 hours a week can be expected due to meetings or other unplanned events.
