The Town of Waterford seeks a proven leader to direct the operations of the Assessor’s Office. The successful candidate will plan, direct and supervise a continuous town-wide program of real and personal property assessment for taxation purposes as prescribed by the Connecticut General Statutes; the successful candidate will manage the activities of the Assessor’s Office including budget, personnel supervision, and preparation and verification of the Annual Grand List.

We seek a Bachelor’s Degree and prefer a major in Business Administration with course work in real estate management, economics, or other related fields; not less than four (4) years of employment in appraisal or assessment of real and personal property, including at least three (3) years in municipal assessment required. Must possess a Certified Connecticut Municipal Assessor designation. Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license. Strong supervisory, interpersonal and administrative skills are essential; considerable knowledge of the theory, principles, and techniques of real and personal property evaluation for assessment purposes; superior written and oral presentation skills are essential. Fulltime position, some evening meetings required.

Salary range, $81,000–$101,250 commensurate with ability and experience. Excellent benefits.
