PROJECT COORDINATOR – TOWN OF VERNON, CONNECTICUT
Salary: $60,053.20 – $76,440.45, based on qualifications and experience
Schedule: 35 hours per week | 4-day work week | Fridays off
Department: Administration
Classification: Exempt, Non-UnionThe Town of Vernon is seeking a highly organized and motivated Project Coordinator to join its Administration team. This position works directly under the Mayor, Town Administrator or designee and is responsible for helping coordinate and maintain project information throughout the project lifecycle, from proposal request through project closeout.
The Project Coordinator works with Town departments, project teams, vendors and contractors to track project status, timelines and deliverables; assists with project budgets and reporting; supports grant research, applications and compliance; and prepares materials for Town Council presentations, meetings and other municipal needs. The position may also represent Administration at regional or state meetings in the absence of the Mayor or Town Administrator.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinating and tracking municipal projects, timelines and deliverables
- Maintaining current project information and following up with project participants as needed
- Tracking project budgets and preparing reports
- Researching grant opportunities and assisting with grant applications and compliance
- Coordinating with Town departments, vendors, contractors and other partners
- Preparing correspondence, reports, presentations and meeting materials
- Supporting Administration with project meetings and other municipal initiatives
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Communication or a related field and at least three years of experience in a responsible and confidential office position. Experience preparing, reviewing and evaluating grant criteria is required; grant-writing experience is preferred. Some experience in large construction project coordination or management is also sought. An equivalent combination of related education and experience will be considered.
Successful candidates should possess strong analytical, organizational, planning and communication skills; be proficient with Microsoft Office; be able to manage confidential information and multiple priorities; and work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
