This senior position is responsible for coordinating and, in conjunction with the Town Planner, performing reviews of subdivision, site plan, and special permit applications for commercial, recreational, industrial, and residential development proposals. The positon involves significant responsibility and requires ability to provide explanation, technical advice and information to prospective developers, the public, attorneys, engineers, and other Town staff on matters relating to land use and development. You would also assist the Town Planner and other professional staff with various planning related projects including implementation of the 2019 POCD (which includes a TOD plan and Coastal Resiliency Plan), preparation of amendments to land use regulations, and grant applications.

A Bachelors’ degree in planning or related field and four years’ municipal experience (preferably in CT) in reviewing land use approval applications; reading and interpreting site plans, drawings and specifications; interpreting and explaining complex planning/zoning regulations, ordinances, reports and studies; and effective written and oral communication skills would be of interest to us. GIS experience desirable.
