Stretches to Keep You Loose While Working From Home

WEBINAR

10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES back to top

During any normal workday we can experience discomfort from tension and compression due to posture and holding patterns in our bodies.  Add to this the stress of coping with our “new normal” working at home and levels of discomfort can reach new highs. Join us for an hour of movement that can bring you relief throughout your day.

For the first part of the session, our instructor will demonstrate and ask you to do various poses and movements that can be done individually throughout the workday. This will be followed up with a slow, yoga-based sequence designed to move the spine in a healthy, gentle way.

No pretzel poses here!  As always, if you have any preexisting conditions that limit your movement then check with your doctor or physical therapist before participating.

USEFUL WEBINAR PROPS back to top

  • A bath towel and a hand towel.
  • A couple sofa pillows or a bed pillow.
  • A chair nearby like an office chair or dining room chair.
  • A mat or blanket (i.e. a throw blanket to practice on unless your floor is carpeted)
  • A yoga block or a book or two taped together to measure approximately 10 inches long, 4 inches thick and 6 inches wide. While this prop is not required, it is highly encouraged, as it is extremely helpful for resetting the pelvis and relieving lower back pain.

WEBINAR PRESENTER back to top

Brenda Stephens is a 200 hour certified yoga teacher. She came to yoga late in life after a bout with Lyme Disease. Finding the physical practice therapeutic, she then became curious about the practice that extends beyond the mat, so she enrolled in The Abhyasa Yoga Study Institute and received her teacher certification. She believes in a slow, gentle, and mindful approach to yoga. In addition to her 200 hour certification, she is also certified in Restorative Yoga and Unnata Aerial Yoga.
