Addressing Homelessness in the COVID-19 Era

WEBINAR

1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW back to top

CCM is partnering with the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness (CCEH), the Connecticut Department of Housing, and the Connecticut Department of Public Health to host a special meeting for municipal leaders and staff engaged in addressing the needs of homeless populations in our state’s towns and cities.

This information session will focus on the state's coordinated effort to decompress congregate shelters by relocating residents into hotels and other settings to maximize social distancing among homeless populations and the people who serve them. The meeting will also explain the Governor’s Executive Order No. 7P, which formally authorizes the state to provide or arrange non-congregant housing with sufficient physical distancing capacity for people in shelters or otherwise experiencing homelessness, and seek FEMA reimbursement. The meeting will begin with a brief overview of current efforts underway before opening the floor to hear from municipal workers about how we can support Connecticut’s towns and cities in sheltering homeless populations in non-congregate settings.

Speakers will include CCEH CEO Dr. Richard Cho, Housing Commissioner Seila Mosquera-Bruno, and Public Health Commissioner Renee D. Coleman-Mitchell. This will be a Zoom video gathering to facilitate a shared sense of community as work through this crisis as one state-wide community.
