The City of Department of Administration, Tax and Assessment Division is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Assessor.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Assessor, performs appraisal and administrative work in the valuation of taxable property to establish the Grand List; performs functions as delegated by the Assessor. Works in conjunction with the Assessor to provide technical and administrative assistance, including research, planning and negotiations support for tax appeals; and assumes responsibility for the professional and efficient operation of the Office in the absence of the Assessor. Supervision Received: Under the direction of the Assessor Supervision Exercised: Supervises office in absence of Assessor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, or a closely related field and at five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in real and personal property appraisal work, which must include two (2) years of assessment-related functions for a municipality and one (1) year in the supervision of staff. Actively seeking CCMA II Certification. Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
