The Town of Simsbury, Connecticut is seeking a dynamic individual to join the Town Manager’s Office. Working directly with the Town Manager and Deputy Town Manager, the Management Specialist will be a key team member; collaborating with a talented staff, dedicated public leaders and a vibrant community to shape and administer the strategic vision and long term mission of the Town of Simsbury. The Management Specialist will be exposed to all aspects of municipal government providing the opportunity to develop the critical experience and skills necessary for future leadership positions in municipal public service.

The Management Specialist will have the opportunity to contribute and provide new and innovative approaches and solutions to the operations and administration of the Town. The Management Specialist will support the customer service, budgeting, human resources, procurement and economic development initiatives of the department including: administrative tasks, project-based assignments, conduct research, develop budget and management analysis, create materials for boards and commissions, provide customer service and information to the public, compose correspondence and documents, arrange appointments and meetings, assist with human resources functions (recruitments, benefits, reporting and onboarding), assist in the preparation and monitoring of the Town operating budget, manage and edit the Town Annual Report and assist in maintaining the Town website and social media platforms.

The position may be underfilled as a Management Assistant with a candidate that possesses a bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university in public administration, public policy or a related field plus three years of progressively responsible municipal administration experience.

The ideal candidate must possess strong communication, analytical, research, writing, customer service, and project management skills and the ability to be inquisitive, creative and detail oriented. Candidates for the position of Management Specialist must have a master's degree from a recognized college or university in public administration, public policy or a related field plus six months of progressively responsible municipal administration experience.

The anticipated hiring range for the Management Specialist position is $60,000 - $70,000 per year, with a salary range of $60,000-$80,000 per year and a competitive benefits package. If underfilled, the anticipated hiring range for the Management Assistant position is $50,000 - $60,000 per year, with a salary range of $50,000-$70,000 per year.
