ADVOCACY & POLICY DEVELOPMENT
CCM is the leading advocate of municipal interests in Connecticut. CCM represents and protects local governments at the General Assembly, in the State executive branch and regulatory agencies, and in the courts. Federal representation is provided by CCM in conjunction with the National League of Cities.

CCM is committed to the membership and:

Maintains an active year-round presence at the State Capitol |

Develops and advocates public-policy responses to state-local issues |

Analyzes every bill and amendment introduced in the General Assembly for its impact on municipalities |

Promotes legislation beneficial to cities and towns, and works to defeat legislation harmful to municipal interests |

Provides members with up-to-date information on legislative developments, including fiscal-impact analyses for each town |

Leads and coordinates coalition lobbying efforts on municipal issues
Alerts members to proposed regulations and decisions of state agencies |

Intervenes in court cases and regulatory proceedings to protect the rights of local governments and save them money. |
All member cities and towns have an opportunity to participate in the development of CCM’s annual legislative program. Their proposals are referred to subject-area committees, then to CCM’s Legislative Committee, a committee of the whole, for action.
