The Town of Pownal, Vermont (pop.3478) seeks a collaborative and dynamic town administrator. This historic town is located in the beautiful Green Mountains of Southern Vermont in Bennington County. The town’s abundant outdoor recreational opportunities reflect quintessential Vermont living and it is located within a few hours of Boston, New Haven, and New York metropolitan regions.
The administrator assists the five-member selectboard’s general administration of the town. Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting all departments as needed, grant writing and managing grant awards, monitoring budgets, attending and participating in all selectboard meetings, public relations, and coordination with the town’s elected and appointed officials.
This is a new part-time position, with the potential to increase to full-time.
Qualifications back to top
A bachelor’s degree in public administration, political science, or business management and/or a minimum of three years' experience in an administrative or managerial capacity in either municipal government or business, or a combination of equivalent experience as the selectboard deems sufficient is required.
Salary/Benefits back to top
The salary range is $35,000 - $40,000 with excellent benefits.
