New Canaan Works With Clean Your Mile Campaign
New Canaan's Clean Your Mile Campaign took place in late April. As the daffodils bloomed and the trees and shrubs leaf out, the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce joined forces with the Town of New Canaan Inland Wetlands and Public Works Departments to organize New Canaan's 2017 spring cleaning effort.
Once again Clean Your Mile sponsors urged village businesses, churches, non profits, students, athletes, community service groups and individual citizens to participate in this important community effort. It was their goal to tackle all our public spaces downtown, our town parks, our school properties and our residential neighborhoods.
Every citizen group participated back to top
As a school official, church leader, business owner or community group leader, local support and willingness to organize volunteers made a significant difference in the success of this spring cleanup to beautify its town and environment. The town welcomed volunteers to organize any day in the Clean Your Mile week for their particular effort. With sufficient manpower, each group needed to commit only 1-2 hours to this effort.
Garbage bags were available to volunteers at the Public Works Department and Inland Wetland office at Town Hall. Dumpsters were located at the train station commuter lot on Friday-Sunday.
Town officials organized the area assignments, covering numerous streets, schools, parks, parking areas and public spaces with everyone's help.
