DANBURY - Eight-term Republican Mayor Mark Boughton has been elected president of the 158-member Connecticut Conference of Municipalities.

He had previously been CCM first vice president.

CCM advocates for taxpayers, pools its buying power to find the most cost-effective services, and shares and research with government leaders.

Boughton was elected president on Tuesday. He succeeds Matthew Galligan, the town manager of South Windsor, who was CCM president for the past 18 months.
