Selectmen swap night for day
The Killingworth board of selectmen has decided to experiment with a new meeting schedule that deviates from the one they have followed for years.
The board will continue to meet on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, but the second meeting will be at 9 a.m. instead of 7 p.m.
Newly elected First Selectman Richard Cabral said alternating the times should give a greater cross-section of citizens a chance to attend the meetings. If the board reverts to its old schedule, it will be done with due notice, he promised.
In Clinton, Killingworth’s southern neighbor, selectman already alternate between night and morning meetings.
First Selectman William Fritz said the morning meeting spares department heads from having to wait for hours after the normal workday is done to attend a night session. But he said the board reserves night meetings for issues known to be of extra public interest.
