Library adds to audio repertoire
The Guilford Free Library has subscribed to an audio book service that makes them even more portable.
Called Overdrive Downloadable Audio Books, the service allows readers (or listeners) the option of “burning” books onto their own compact disks.
It can be accessed from home by library card holders, who have a computer with a Windows Media Player or an MP3 player.
The service is free and has an interface similar to that of on online retailer, said reference librarian Tom Piezzo.
It contains more than 300 fiction and non-fiction titles across a variety of genres. Piezzo estimated an average book would take about 10 minutes to download from home, depending on the computer and internet connection.
