The city of New London, Connecticut is seeking an experienced, accomplished individual with the critical knowledge and skills needed to become its next Information Technology Director.
Founded in 1646 New London has celebrated over 350 years of history and proudly looks forward to its future. Under the general direction of the Mayor, the Information Technology Director is responsible for the planning, budgeting, implementation and management of all information systems, voice communication systems and technology on a City-wide basis, and serves as IT and communication liaison with the Board of Education. He/she is responsible for analyzing current systems, determining the City’s needs and plans, designing and implementing new systems, hardware, and software as required, as well as coordinating voice communication systems and information technology among all departments, assuring appropriate service and systems operability, and assuring the safety and integrity of City data and information systems through security and access management.

Candidates should have a thorough knowledge of information technology operations, systems and hardware, including the IBM AS/400 computer in a network environment, file servers, Microsoft Windows, OS/400 client/server hardware and software, and LAN/WAN network planning, design, operations, administration and troubleshooting. Thorough knowledge of voice communications systems in a municipal environment is essential, plus considerable knowledge of financial systems including municipal financial systems, (GIS), database design and operation, document imaging systems, workflow automation, and a working knowledge of Police and Fire dispatch and communications systems.
