The winners of CIRMA’s 2008 Risk Control
Achievement award represent the best in municipal
and school risk management. They created a culture
in which safety and loss control is not an
afterthought, but a part of every activity. They
raised the bar.
Although each had different risk management
concerns, they all began by developing a consensus
about their tolerance for risk. Then they selected the
appropriate strategies, objectives, and techniques.
Employees were educated to recognize hazards and
take appropriate steps to reduce or control risk in
the everyday activities of their jobs.
The result: a successful risk management
program that fit the real needs of their workplaces
and their communities.
