LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Safety and Health Committees bring workers and managers together to create and foster a safer and healthier workplace. By creating a Safety and Health Committee, you will not only bring your organization into compliance with the State of Connecticut’s requirements, you will also develop and promote the principles and practices that help reduce workplace injuries, illnesses, and fatalities.

Active Safety and Health Committees also help improve employee morale, increase productivity, and lower workers' compensation insurance premiums.

This workshop is designed for risk managers, human resource managers, middle managers, team leaders and other employees with limited experience in safety and health. If you have recently been appointed to chair your town or public school’s Safety and Health Committee, or if you would like to establish a committee, this workshop will help you build a dynamic committee that achieves results.

Workshop topics include:

  • How to set practical goals and obtain management commitment to them.
  • Establishing bylaws and conforming with State of Connecticut requirements.
  • Proper accident/incident reporting and investigation.
  • How to develop an effective safety inspection program to identify hazards.
  • How to conduct employee safety training.
AUDIENCE This workshop is designed for
  • Risk Managers/Safety and Health Directors
