Workshop:

Changing Demographics: What's New in Reducing Healthcare Costs
A CCM Workshop
November 10, 2009
Farmington, CT

9:00 a.m. – 12 noon, Registration 8:30 a.m.

DESCRIPTION

There are many reasons, but one of the most important contributors is the aging of our population. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Connecticut has the 8th highest median age in the nation, and the 3rd highest among our nonHispanic white population.

But as our babyboomer generation approaches retirement age, the makeup of our workforce will change dramatically. The changing face of the municipal workforce over the next decade will present new opportunities and new challenges for municipal leaders. Savvy administrators will recognize these changes and can develop proactive solutions in the design of health and benefit programs to achieve current and long term savings while also attracting a healthier and more productive workforce.

This workshop will provide attendees with a solid understanding of these emerging demographic patterns and provide specific ideas on how to structure benefit programs to capitalize on these new opportunities.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • Learn to reduce the most important (and costly) health risks in your employee population.
  • Outline the measurable outcomes to a successful wellness program.
  • Review benchmarks for implementing BestInClass wellness programs.
