Workshop:
Making Sense of the 2010 Census: Learn How Your Community Can Get Its Fair Share
October 22, 2009
Groton, CT
9:30 a.m. – 12 noon
DESCRIPTION
Making Sense of the Census!
Census 2010 is fast approaching! Is your community ready?
$400 billion in federal funding is allocated each year based on
census data. Equally important, the results from the 2010 Census
will be used to reapportion congressional and state legislative
districts. There is a concern that some New England states
could lose representation in Washington and their share of federal
assistance if all residents are not counted.
This census workshop will provide you with the tools and ideas
you will need to help ensure a complete count in your community.
Attendees will learn about upcoming census activities and
programs that will be vital to pushing the message about the
importance of the 2010 Census to all residents. You will also
be invited to become a partner with the U.S. Census Bureau and
work with them to help mobilize your communities and constituents
in support of achieving a complete count.
Attendees will also receive instructions on how to access the
most up to date statistics for their community, their county,
their state or the Nation. Data for 2008 has recently been
released!
