risks, and develop your own Fleet Safety Program.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Millions of dollars a year are awarded to claimants for automobile
injuries. These awards can be financially devastating to the public
employers who pay them. One way or another, with or without
insurance, the negligent party will shoulder the cost of large awards.
One way to reduce these kinds of claims is to implement and
adhere to a Fleet Safety Program.
This workshop explains how a Fleet Safety Program will help
you manage the risks associated with vehicle-related events, reduce
exposure to significant liabilities, and save your municipality
significant amounts of money.

- Identify the financial risks and legal principles that
affect organizations with vehicle fleets.
- Outline the critical and general components of a Fleet Safety
Program and describe the benefits.
- Understand the procedures for hiring and training drivers;
and the performance guidelines for vehicles and drivers.
- Understand the process of accident and injury review and
the related responsibilities of managers and drivers.
- Give examples of safety reward and response programs that
promote good driving habits.
- Describe a documentation system.

Senior Risk Management Consultant

In five years of experience in the insurance Risk
Management Field, Joey has provided Risk
Management consulting to various public agencies
that range from Public Housing Authorities to
Section 8 and low income housing across the country focusing
on General Liability, Fleet and Property. Joey also has experience
in Security and Emergency Medical Response as he spent five
years as a volunteer within his hometown’s Fire Department.
Joey has a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Sociology with a
concentration in Criminal Justice from Central Connecticut State
University and has been certified as a Public Housing Manager,
a Licensed Producer, and a Licensed Casualty and Property
Adjuster.

- Take 91 South to Exit 22 South (Rte 9).
- Proceed on Rte 9. Take Exit 15 - Washington St. (Rte 66 / DeKoven Dr. exit).
- At light, take right onto Washington St. then a quick left on to DeKoven Dr.
- Take next right onto Court St. then first right onto Melilli
Plaza.
- The municipal building is first building on right; parking is at rear of building.
From the New Haven Area
- Take 91 North to Route 66 East (Washington St. - Exit 18).
- Following signs to Middletown, proceed on Rt. 66 until you reach Main St.
- Go through light and take first right on to Melilli Plaza. Follow directions above.
From the Portland Area
- Take Route 66 East and proceed over the Portland Bridge
into Middletown — Main St.
- At Main and Washington St., take left on to Washington St. then first right on to Melilli Plaza.
- Follow directions above.
From Shoreline
- Take Route 9 North to Exit 15 for 66 West (Middletown/ Meriden).
- At light, take left on to Washington St. then a quick left on to DeKoven Dr.
