LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The Hazard Communication Standard, 29 CFR 1910.1200,
provides workers who are exposed to hazardous chemicals
with the right-to-know about the identity of the
chemicals in their workshap and their hazards. The
OSHA standard also requires employers to provide
training on appropriate protective measures.
This program consists of the following topics:
- Explanation of the OSHA HAZCOM STANDARD,
29 CFR 1910.1200.
- Explanation of toxic substances in the workplace
and identifying what appears on a product label.
- Discussion of the information presented in the 8
sections of the Material Safety Data Sheets
(MSDS).
- Explanation of the purpose of a MSDS.
- Definition of the words and terms found on a MSDS.
- Explanation of where MSDS’s are kept.
- Identify rights and responsibilities of employees.
- Discuss methods of controlling physical and health
hazards.

SPEAKERS
Mark Wantroba
Senior Risk Management Consultant
CIRMA Risk Management Services
Mark serves as a Senior Risk Management
Consultant for CIRMA’s Risk Management
Services. He has over twenty years experience
working in the commercial insurance industry providing risk
management and safety and health services. Mark holds a B.S. in
Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Southern Connecticut
State University. He also completed his M.S. in Exercise
Physiology (Biomechanics) from the same institution. Mark is a
Certified Safety Professional and holds the Associate in Risk
Management and Associate in Loss Control Management
designations. He has been a member of the American Society of
Safety Engineers since 1989.

Take Route 8 North toward Trumbull/Waterbury.
Follow Route 8, take the US-6 East exit, Exit 39, toward CT-222/Thomaston/Bristol.
Turn Left onto East Main Street/US-6.
Town Hall is at 158 Main Street.
From the East via 84:
Take I-84 West/US-6 West to Exit 2 West toward I-91 North.
Merge onto US-6 West via Exit 38 toward Bristol.
Turn slight right onto Main Street/US-6.
Town Hall is at 158 Main Street.
From the Southeast:
Take I-95 South to Exit 69, merge onto CT-9 North toward Essex/Hartford.
Merge onto I-91 S via Exit 20 South on the left toward New Haven.
Merge onto I-691 West via Exit 18 toward Meriden/Waterbury.
Merge onto I-84 West via Exit 1 on the left toward Waterbury/Danbury.
Merge onto CT-8 North via Exit 20 toward Torrington.
