SUMMARY

This workshop trains flaggers to safely guide traffic through and around work areas. It teaches standard flagging procedures, which provide clear instruction and will reduce driver confusion and uncertainty in work zones.

  • Learn basic principles and best practices for safe set-up of flagging stations.
  • Learn proper and effective flagging procedures and proper use of required equipment.
  • Improve flagging skills from hands-on training, classroom activities and a flagging skills test.
  • Increase your ability to coordinate traffic movement through the work zone.

SPEAKERS Bill Eysberse
Signal 54 Bill Eyberse has over 20 years of experience with the Connecticut Department of Transportation, serving as a Maintainer, Qualified Craft Worker Electrician, and seven years as a trainer. Bill is currently a ConnDOT Planner I. Since 1983, he has been an instructor for the Eastern Connecticut Fire School in Windham. His company, Signal 54 Training, is a recognized Public Training Agency for the National Safety Council.

DIRECTIONS

From I-91 NORTH or SOUTH:
  • Take I-291 (Bissell Bridge exit) to Route 5 North.
  • Follow Route 5 North.
  • Take a right onto Strong Road.
  • Burgess Road bears to the right off of Strong road.
  • Town Garage will be on the right hand side about one mile down.

From I-84 EAST (from Hartford):

  • Take Exit 62. Take left off of exit onto Buckland Road.
  • Follow Buckland Road into South Windsor.
  • At intersection with Route 30 (white church in front of you) take a left onto Route 30.
  • Follow Route 30 for about a mile and a half.
  • Just after fire headquarters (on the left) take a right onto Foster Road.
  • Burgess Road is a left off of Foster.
  • Town Garage will be on left hand side.

From I-84 West:

  • Take Exit 63. Take left off exit onto Route 30.
  • Follow Route 30 for about 3 miles.
  • Just after fire headquarters (on the left) take a right onto Foster Road.
  • Burgess Road is a left off of Foster Road.
  • Town Garage will be on left hand side.
