Workshop:
Brownfield Remediation & Redevelopment How Has the Landscape Changed?
April 7, 2010
Bristol, CT
9:00 a.m. – Noon, Registration 8:30 a.m.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This training session is presented by the Connecticut Department of
Economic and Community Development’s (DECD) Office of
Brownfield Remediation and Development (OBRD) and the strategic
partnership with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and
The Connecticut Brownfield Redevelopment Authority (CBRA).
The Environmental Protection Agency defines brownfields as “real
property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be
complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous
waste substance, pollutant, or contaminant”.
Brownfield redevelopment is a crucial element in the state’s responsible
growth strategies and the DECD’s
mission carries that out. The
DECD’s mission is to develop and
implement strategies that:
- Attract and retain business
- Revitalize neighborhoods
- Ensure quality housing
- Foster responsible growth
OBRD is your one-stop for both financial
and technical assistance.
Get the most up to date information on the state’s brownfield
programs and learn more about how brownfield re-use relates to
responsible growth by returning brownfield properties to productive use
by strengthening public-private partnerships for providing
solutions, timely resources, and expertise.
