DESCRIPTION
All municipal governments face numerous challenges and opportunities in difficult economic times. The attention on energy conservation, efficiency and renewable energy is even more essential at the local level.
This workshop is intended to provide municipal officials with information on programs and incentives that can simultaneously help create model sustainable communities and save money overthe long term.
The focus of this event will be on energy conservation,efficiency, and renewable but will also encompass related issues such as high performance buildings, smartgrowth and optimal utilization of resources and addressing climate change.
The workshop will also include case studies of model Connecticut municipalities that are leaders in energy conservation.

SPEAKERS
Commissioner Gina McCarthy
CT Department of Environmental Protection
Commissioner McCarthy is working on important environmental priorities,
such as continuing to improve the health of Long Island Sound and
the state’s air quality; reinvigorating the state park system; implementing
strategies and recommendations included in Connecticut’s innovative
Climate Change Action Plan; completing a new solid waste master
plan; and developing new strategies to protect the state’s natural resources.
Bob Wall
CT Clean Energy Fund
As Director of Energy Market Initiatives for the Connecticut Clean Energy
Fund, Bob develops and manages community based
and educational
programs to increase the voluntary market for clean, renewable
energy in Connecticut.
Jeffrey Gaudiosi, Esq.
CT Energy Efficiency Fund
Mr. Gaudiosi is the Chairman of the Energy Conservation Management
Board, which oversees the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund. Jeff is
also Vice President MAC, the Manufacturing Alliance of Connecticut in
Waterbury, where he monitors all energy issues facing Connecticut’s
manufacturing community.
William M. Leahy, CEM, CSDP, LEED AP
The Institute for Sustainability Energy
Bill Leahy is the Chief Operating Officer of the Institute for Sustainable
Energy at Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU). Bill has thirty
years experience in energy management.
