LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The Hazard Communication Standard, 29 CFR 1910.1200,
provides workers who are exposed to hazardous chemicals
with the right-to-know about the identity of the
chemicals in their workshap and their hazards. The
OSHA standard also requires employers to provide
training on appropriate protective measures.
This program consists of the following topics:
- Explanation of the OSHA HAZCOM STANDARD,
29 CFR 1910.1200.
- Explanation of toxic substances in the workplace
and identifying what appears on a product label.
- Discussion of the information presented in the 8
sections of the Material Safety Data Sheets
(MSDS).
- Explanation of the purpose of a MSDS.
- Definition of the words and terms found on a MSDS.
- Explanation of where MSDS’s are kept.
- Identify rights and responsibilities of employees.
- Discuss methods of controlling physical and health
hazards.

SPEAKERS
Catherine Zinsser
Occupational Safety Training Specialist, CONN-OSHA
Mrs. Zinsser has been with Connecticut OSHA for three years.
She has a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Hygiene from
Quinnipiac University. Mrs. Zinsser has been in the safety
and environmental consulting field for several years as a
CONN- OSHA Training Specialist. Mrs. Zinsser has responsibility
for CONN-OSHA training activities.
