The Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) today (Thursday, August 16) announced that the likely last gubernatorial TV debate this fall, to be held one week before Election Day — sponsored by CCM, WTNH News 8 and The Hartford Courant — will be moderated by long-time and respected Connecticut news anchor Ann Nyberg, with panelists including well-known, veteran WTNH newscaster Keith Kountz and a veteran Hartford Courant political reporter (TBD).
The event will be held during CCM’s annual convention on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Foxwoods Resort Casino, and will air live on WTNH News 8 from 7-8 pm.
In addition, questions for the candidates will also be posed by Connecticut’s local elected leaders.
Debate will be unique back to top
“This last debate will be unique in this gubernatorial race because it will be the only one that focuses heavily on the key state-local issues facing Connecticut local governments and their residents,” said Joe DeLong, CCM Executive Director. “The debate room will be packed with mayors and first selectmen from across the state, with the financial burdens and service needs of Connecticut property taxpayers front and center on that night’s agenda.
“As the key Labor Day weekend in the race approaches,” DeLong emphasized, “we again encourage the major polling organizations in the state to assess where the public stands on key election issues as well as the level of support for each candidate as we move closer to the debate and election night.”
