Administers the CT State Building Code and applicable ordinances, statues, and regulations to ensure the public safety, health and welfare affected by building construction and to secure safety to life and property from all hazards incident to the occupancy of buildings and structures. Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and supervising a comprehensive building inspection program within the Planning and Development Department and is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control.

Must have an Associate’s Degree or advanced training in a field related to building construction and/or design from an accredited college or program and have over five (5) years of experience in supervising the construction or design of buildings or any equivalent combination of education, training and work experience to meet state certification requirement. Must have working knowledge of on-line permit systems. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office application. Must have and maintain State Certified Building Official license and a valid driver’s license.
