General Assembly Passes Local Option Revaluation Delay
CCM Urges Governor to Sign it Quickly - Your Action Needed
The House of Representatives today passed SB 997, a bill previously passed by the Senate, that would allow
municipalities slated to conduct, implement or phase-in revaluations during 2008, 2009 or 2010 until 2011. It
would also provide for regional revaluations. House vote was 125 to 18.
The bill now goes to Governor Rell.
CCM has written to the Governor urging her to quickly sign the bill.

The Honorable M. Jodi Rell
Governor of Connecticut

Dear Governor Rell:
CCM urges you to sign as quickly as possible, SB 997, "An Act Concerning a Municipal Option to Delay
Revaluations."
This bill would allow municipalities slated to conduct, implement or phase-in revaluations during 2008, 2009
or 2010 until 2011. It would also provide for regional revaluations.
SB 997 is a no-cost way for the State to both (a) save money for municipalities and hard-hit property tax
payers and (b) encourage regional cooperation.
Early approval of this bill would enable municipalities – most of which are now in the middle of their budget
processes – to make decisions in a timely manner about whether this option works for their communities.
We have appreciated your stand this year on behalf of municipalities, mandates relief and regional cooperation and we urge you to approve SB 997.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,

James J. Finley, Jr.
Executive Director & CEO
