$40 million at stake; CCM implores General Assembly to ensure passage of full municipal share of the real estate conveyance tax before it adjourns
The Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) has called on the General Assembly to take action in the last two days of the session to ensure the passage of HB 5885, which would extend for two years the present rates of the municipal real estate conveyance tax.
CCM is urging state legislators to not let this desperately-needed legislation fall victim to state budget politics.
That $40 million in municipal revenue - which would not cost the State a dime -- is too important to be a pawn in political gamesmanship at the eleventh hour of the session.
Municipalities across the state have included the full share of the municipal real estate conveyance tax in their municipal budgets for FY 2008-09.
