CCM thanks Gov., leaders for protecting towns from
losses due to delay in school construction payments.

CCM Letterhead

October 31, 2007

The Honorable M. Jodi Rell
Governor of Connecticut
Executive Chambers
State Capitol Building
Hartford, CT 06106

Dear Governor Rell:

The Connecticut Conference of Municipalities thanks you for passage of legislation that protects municipalities from financial losses due to the delay in this year’s bond package and school construction progress payments.

Local officials understand the difficulty in coming to a compromise agreement this year, and appreciate your early support for holding municipalities harmless from any negative financial impacts resulting from the impasse.

The school construction grant program is a terrific example of the state-local partnership at its best: both levels of government contribute financially and both provide technical and administrative support. The winners are the schoolchildren of the state. Your efforts protected the integrity of this important program.

Once again, thank you. We look forward to continuing to work with you.

Sincerely,

The Honorable James Amann

Dear Speaker Amann:

The Connecticut Conference of Municipalities thanks you for passage of legislation that protects municipalities from financial losses due to the delay in this year’s bond package and school construction progress payments.

Local officials understand the difficulty in coming to a compromise agreement this year, and appreciate that all sides were supportive of holding municipalities harmless from any negative financial impacts resulting from the impasse.
