Consortium holds two more regional forums backing mandate reform
The Connecticut Municipal Consortium for Fiscal
Responsibility is sponsoring two more regional forums to bring together
local board leadership and/or their designees to meet with area
legislators. The bipartisan grassroots alliance promotes a three-point
cost-management agenda whose planks are common to the legislative
platforms of CCM as well as CABE and COST.
The broad alliance consists of
a diverse array of Town and City Councils....Boards of Selectmen and
Aldermen... as well as those of Education and Finance. To date......
184 Boards/Chairs representing 109 towns and cities throughout the state
have joined in supporting this initiative to help strengthen a
municipality's ability to more effectively manage its own local fiscal
affairs.
The two forums are set for :
- the Council Chamber at the Avon Town Hall Complex on Rte 44 -
60 West Main St. in Avon Center on Wednesday January 24th @ 7:30PM
- the Meeting Room at the Ellington Town Hall - 55 Main St in
Ellington on Monday January 29th @ 7:30PM.
In late November, this coalition of boards from all three
perspectives - municipal, fiscal, and education - held three similar
forums in Torrington, Oxford, and Bozrah. Local participation is important
in strengthening the message to legislators that mandate reform is
important to municipalities..... and an important factor in taking on
property tax reform issues.
